BIO
Elisa Smith is an Australian visual artist based in the Mildura, Victoria.
Born 1969 to Finnish Immigrants in Mount Isa, Elisa grew up surrounded by the rugged and arid beauty of the Selwyn Ranges, the warmth and richness of her parents’ cultural heritage and a diverse cross culture that was an Australian mining town in the 1970’s.
Following a 20 year long career within the Mining and Logistic Industries in Mount Isa and Karumba, North Queensland, Elisa and her family moved to Mildura, Victoria where they ran a successful Engineering & Fabrication Workshop for 17 years.
At present she is currently in her final year of a BA of Photography at the Photography Studies College in Melbourne. Her interests explore the human condition and how it intersects with place, identity, belonging and grief.
